The secondary beams S032200100022 were produced using a primary 16O beam at 59.5 MeV/u S032200100023 from the HIRFL impinged on a 9Be target with 2.0-mm- S032200100024 thick. The secondary beams of interest were selected S032200100025 and optimized by adjusting the magnetic rigidity. S032200100026 SAMPLE The thicknesses of the 208Pb targets were 13.30 mg/cm2 S032200100027 for the 14C beam at 294 MeV and 12.24 mg/cm2 for the S032200100028 13C beam at 340 MeV and the 14C beam at 342 MeV. S032200100029 DETECTOR (SI) Two double-sided silicon detectors (DSSDs), S032200100030 87 um and 65 um thick, respectively, were used to S032200100031 provide the accurate location and orientation of the S032200100032 incident particles with respect to the target S032200100033 alignment. Both DSSDs have 16 junction and 16 ohmic S032200100034 strips, 3 mm wide. They were placed 669 mm and 69 mm S032200100035 upstream of the 208Pb target. S032200100036 (TELES) To detect the scattering particles, four dE-E S032200100037 telescopes were installed 267 mm downstream of the S032200100038 target, covering an angular range from about 3-27 deg S032200100039 in the laboratory reference. S032200100040 METHOD (EDE) The scattering particles were identified and S032200100041 selected using the two-dimensional dE-E spectra S032200100042 obtained with the telescopes.
