The S022900100020 average intensities of 9Be and 10Be were 7E+3 and S022900100021 6E+3 pps, with purity of 98% and 98.5%, respectively. S022900100022 SAMPLE The 208 Pb target consisted of a self-supporting foil, S022900100023 8.52 mg/cm2 thick, which was made by evaporation and S022900100024 measured by weighing. S022900100025 DETECTOR (SISD,TELES,SIBAR) Two double-sided silicon strip S022900100026 detectors, with 16 horizontal and 16 vertical strips S022900100027 and 74 um and 87 um thick, were used to give the S022900100028 precise position and direction of the incident beam S022900100029 particles. These detectors were set 669 mm and 69 mm S022900100030 away from the target position, respectively. An array S022900100031 of three delta E-E particle telescopes was used to S022900100032 detect the scattered particles. Three double-sided S022900100033 silicon strip detectors with thickness of 301 um, 129 S022900100034 um and 144 um were used as the delta E detectors in S022900100035 each telescope. For the E signal, three silicon S022900100036 detectors with thickness of 1536 um, 1535 um and 1528 S022900100037 um were used. The full detector array was mounted 267 S022900100038 mm downstream from the target, covering an angular S022900100039 range of 5 to 27 deg. The angular resolution was S022900100040 about 0.4 deg. S022900100041 METHOD (EDEG) An aluminum wedge, 1510 um thick, was placed S022900100042 at the first focal plane of the Radioactive Ion Beam S022900100043 Line of the HIRFL as a degrader. S022900100044 (TOF,EDE) Secondary beams were identified and S022900100045 discriminated using a combination of time-of-flight S022900100046 and energy loss (ToF-Delta E) signals. Elastic S022900100047 scattering events were detected using three sets of S022900100048 delta E-E silicon telescopes.
