The O236100100011 thickness of the Li-6 layer was determined by O236100100012 Rutherford scattering of 58Ni(4+) ions, and it was O236100100013 found to be 30-150 ug/cm**2. The thickness of the O236100100014 backings varied between 50 and 200 ug/cm**2. In the close vicinity of the target a O236100100026 liquid nitrogen cold trap was installed to reduce O236100100027 carbon build-up, and lithium hydroxide formation. In O236100100028 case of the proton channel angular distributions were O236100100029 measured for 0.58-175 degrees varying the beam energy O236100100030 between 2 and 16 MeV in steps of 200 keV. For O236100100031 detection of the protons at forward angles, silicon O236100100032 surface barrier detectors in dE-E telescope O236100100033 configuration were used. The thickness of the dE O236100100034 detector was sufficient to stop alpha particles, thus O236100100035 with an anti-coincidence requirement between the dE O236100100036 and E detectors, it was possible to obtain clean O236100100037 proton spectra. At backward angles, single surface O236100100038 barrier detectors wrapped in Al foil were used. For O236100100039 the measurement at 0.58 degree, a single detector was O236100100040 mounted on the beam axis behind the target. The O236100100041 target in this case had a 0.1 mm thick Ta backing, O236100100042 which stopped the recoiling 6Li nuclei and all O236100100043 ejectiles but protons. In case of the neutron channel, O236100100044 pulsed beam was used with FWHM of 1.4 ns and O236100100045 repetition rate of 400 ns. Excitation functions were O236100100046 measured for energies 4.75-12.0 MeV in steps of 250 O236100100047 keV. Below 8 MeV beam energy, 100 ug/cm**2 thick Li O236100100048 targets on 0.1 mm Ta backings were used, while at O236100100049 higher energies targets with 130 ug/cm**2 Li layer O236100100050 thickness were chosen. The neutrons were detected by O236100100051 N213 liquid scintillators. Pulse shape discrimination O236100100052 was used to suppress photon background.
