O209000100014 SAMPLE The specimens of the separated isotopes were in the O209000100015 form of thin deposits on the copper sheet. The O209000100016 thicknesses were such that the energy loss of a O209000100017 deuteron passing through the B-ll layer was of the O209000100018 order of 120 keV and through the B-l0 layer 30 keV, theO209000100019 separation of the isotopes was practically complete. O209000100020 CORRECTION To obtain the actual distribution of neutron number O209000100021 with energy, it was necessary to correct these spectra O209000100022 for two effects-the variation of neutron-proton O209000100023 scattering cross section with energy and the variation O209000100024 with energy of the fraction of the proton tracks which O209000100025 would be expected to remain within the emulsion. O209000100026 The correction factor is normalized to unity at 7 MeV, O209000100027 so that in the corrected spectra of Figures 2,3 and 4 O209000100028 the ordinates around this energy represent actual O209000100029 numbers of tracks measured, while being proportional toO209000100030 neutron numbers at all energies. The effect of the O209000100031 variation of the correction factor is shown by the O209000100032 standard deviations indicated on the corrected spectra.O209000100033 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR).The uncertainty is reported by authors on O209000100034 figure.
