M058700100016 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR) Cross section data have been obtained with M058700100017 an accuracy between 9 and 20 %. M058700100018 COMMENT The absolute photofission cross section of 209Bi M058700100019 has been measured with monoenergetic gamma-radiation M058700100020 between 40 and 65 MeV photon energy. The experimental M058700100021 result was compared with the excitation function M058700100022 calculated on the basis of the statistical model. M058700100023 In order to reproduce the measured data on M058700100024 sigma(gamma,f), the (gamma,n) cross section must M058700100025 decrease with increasing photon energy faster than M058700100026 the experimental total (gamma,n) cross section. This M058700100027 behavior can possibly be explained by assumption M058700100028 that after photon absorption a compound nucleus M058700100029 is formed only for a small, with photon energy M058700100030 decreasing, fraction of all decays.
