M055700100035 Direct-knockout calculations fail to account for the M055700100036 magnitude of the (g,p) results, which indicates the M055700100037 need for calculations that include effects such as M055700100038 meson exchange or short-range correlations. Strength M055700100039 seen at higher excitation energies is attributed to M055700100040 inclusive (g,p) events. The excitation-energy spectra M055700100041 have been compared with quasi-deuteron model M055700100042 calculations which assume a (g,np) reaction where the M055700100043 neutron goes undetected. The shape of 51V excitation M055700100044 spectrum is compared to a pre-equilibrium model M055700100045 calculation.
