M051300100021 COMMENT A comparison is made between the yield curves of the M051300100022 measured Cr-52(a,g-0) and Mn-55(p,g-0) reactions in M051300100023 the giant dipole resonance region of Fe-56 (E-exc = M051300100024 14.0 to 21.5 MeV) to determine if the gross M051300100025 differences can be interpreted as being due to M051300100026 isospin effects. Above 18 MeV the yield of (g,a-0), M051300100027 determined by the principle of detailed balance, is M051300100028 observed to drop below the value obtained when the M051300100029 energy dependence of the transmission coefficients is M051300100030 removed. This leads to the conclusion that while the M051300100031 diminished yield in the (g,a-0) channel may be due to M051300100032 the failure to populate the isospin forbidden T> M051300100033 states, other effects cannot be ruled out.
