M045900100004 AUTHOR (J.A.Galey) M045900100005 REFERENCE (J,PR,117,763,1960) M045900100006 INSTITUTE (1USANAL) M045900100007 FACILITY (BETAT,1USANAL) M045900100008 INC-SOURCE (BRST) M045900100009 METHOD (EDE,PHD) M045900100010 SAMPLE The target cosisted of deuterium gas at pressures of M045900100011 13 to 14 atmos in a stainless steel container of M045900100012 welded construction, held at 77.4 degrees K by use M045900100013 of a liquid nitrogen shell. M045900100014 PART-DET (P) M045900100015 DETECTOR (SCIN,NAICR) M045900100016 ANALYSIS The data were reduced to differential cross sections M045900100017 in a straightforward manner. M045900100018 CORRECTION Corrections were made for nonideal gas behavior of M045900100019 the deuterium, the loss of protons in traversing M045900100020 materials between the target and NaI(Tl) crystall, M045900100021 and the deadtime of the particle-selector system. M045900100022 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-S) Statistical errors. M045900100023 COMMENT Differential cross sections for the reaction d(g,p)n M045900100024 have been determined at laboratory angles of 45, 75, M045900100025 90, and 135 degrees for laboratory energies from M045900100026 approximately 50 to 90 MeV. At each of the above M045900100027 angles the energy spectrum of the recoil protons was M045900100028 determined with a counter telescope and a M045900100029 pulseheight analysis system. the low cross section M045900100030 for this reaction necessitates the reduction of the M045900100031 background to a minimum. This was accomplished by M045900100032 the use of a gaseous target and a particle selection M045900100033 technique.
