M042400100004 AUTHOR (D.J.S.Findlay,R.O.Owens) M042400100005 REFERENCE (J,NP/A,279,385,1977) M042400100006 #doi:10.1016/0375-9474(77)90574-7 M042400100007 INSTITUTE (2UK GLS) M042400100008 FACILITY (LINAC,2UK GLS) M042400100009 INC-SOURCE (BRST) M042400100010 METHOD (EXTB) M042400100011 DETECTOR (MAGSP) M042400100012 PART-DET (P) M042400100013 SAMPLE The photonuclear target was a berillium oxide sheet, M042400100014 57.3 (0.3) g/cm**2 thick. M042400100015 ANALYSIS (UNFLD) The dependence of the photoproton cross M042400100016 section on photon energy over 40 - 105 MeV range M042400100017 assumed to be smooth was obtained by an iterative M042400100018 procedure from the present data. The O-16(g,p-0) M042400100019 cross section then was obtained from a particular M042400100020 proton yield spectrum at any photon energy in a M042400100021 range corresponding to the top 5 MeV of the yield M042400100022 spectrum (the residual nucleus N-15 has the M042400100023 relatively large gap of more than 5 MeV between its M042400100024 ground state and first excited state and so all M042400100025 protons within about 5 MeV of the endpoint of the M042400100026 proton yield spectrum correspond to population of M042400100027 the ground state of N-15). M042400100028 EN-SEC (E-LVL,7-N-15) M042400100029 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-S) The errors are due to statistics. M042400100030 (ERR-1) The systematic error was estimated to be about M042400100031 11%. M042400100032 COMMENT The O-16(g,p-0) reaction has been investigated M042400100033 between photon energies Eg = 40 and 105 MeV using a M042400100034 bremsstrahlung beam, full angular distributions M042400100035 being obtained at Eg = 60, 80, and 100 MeV. M042400100036 CORRECTION In accordance to note added in proof after the M042400100037 publication all cross section data were increased M042400100038 (by a compiler) by 6% in connection with the effect M042400100039 of large electron energy losses in the gold radiator M042400100040 which previously have been neglected.
