The total photoneutron cross M036800100020 section SIG was obtained as a sum of the sig-i. M036800100021 COMMENT The inclusive partial photoneutron cross sections M036800100022 sig(g,1n), sig(g,2n), and the total photoneutron M036800100023 cross section sig(g,n-tot), which is equal to the M036800100024 sum of the partial ones, for O-16 have been measured M036800100025 with monoenergetic photons in the energy region M036800100026 above the giant resonance and below the meson M036800100027 thresholds. Comparison with other data shows the M036800100028 dominance of the (g,pn) process in this energy M036800100029 region and thus underscores the importance of the M036800100030 mechanism of photon absorption by a correlated M036800100031 proton-neutron pair in nucleus; thus, satisfactory M036800100032 agreement of modern versions of the quasideuteron M036800100033 theory with the data has been obtained. The measured M036800100034 integrated total photoneutron cross section up to M036800100035 140 MeV is 0.67 (0.07) TRK sum-rule units. Because M036800100036 the low thresholds the following reactions can M036800100037 participate: (g,n+p) - 23 MeV, (g,n+2p) - 30.5 MeV, M036800100038 (g,n+a) - 25.9 MeV, (g,n+p+a) - 34.6 MeV in (g,1n) M036800100039 reaction cross sections and (g,2n+p) - 33.5 mev, M036800100040 (g,2n+2p) - 35.5 MeV, (g,2n+a) - 39 MeV, M036800100041 (g,2n+2p+3a) - 42.8 MeV in (g,2n) reaction cross M036800100042 sections and hence in their sum sig (g,n-tot).
