M036300100012 ANALYSIS (PLA) Penfold-Leiss method was used for unfolding the M036300100013 information on reaction cross section from M036300100014 experimental yield curve measured in steps of 172.5 M036300100015 keV from threshold to 14.5 MeV and in steps of 345 M036300100016 keV at higher energies. The absolute cross section M036300100017 scale was determined by comparing the measured yield M036300100018 values of a (D-2)O sample and of C-13 at fixed energy M036300100019 value (15.0 MeV) below O-16(g,n) threshold using M036300100020 well-known value of H-2(g,n) reaction cross section M036300100021 of G.Breit. M036300100022 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR) The mean-square errors. M036300100023 COMMENT The photoneutron cross section in C-13 was measured M036300100024 using bremsstrahlung from electron synchrotron M036300100025 operated in energy sweeping mode. Neutrons were M036300100026 detected by a multi-BF-3-counter detection system. M036300100027 Decorrelated cross section ordinates were calculated M036300100028 directly using a modified Penfold-Leiss analysis. To M036300100029 avoid any possibility of spurious resonances the M036300100030 strong negative correlation between adjacent cross M036300100031 section ordinates, as it result from the M036300100032 Penfold-Leiss method, was then reduced to a M036300100033 negligible amount by using the decorrelation method M036300100034 of Crawford. The resultant C-13(g,n) cross section M036300100035 csn be interpreted as being fully equivalent to a set M036300100036 of uncorrelated cross section ordinates with their M036300100037 standard deviations, as it would be obtained in an M036300100038 ideal monochromatic gamma experiment measuring the M036300100039 integrated-over-angles cross section. The cross M036300100040 section from threshold to 25 MeV shows detailed M036300100041 structure, some nine maxima, in agreement with recent M036300100042 continuum shell-model calculations.
