The M034800100022 end-point energy step was less than the energy M034800100023 spacing between the ground and first excited states M034800100024 of the residual nuclei. The energy resolution of M034800100025 time-of flight method was equated to 7 keV at 1 MeV M034800100026 neutron energy and 60 kev at 4 MeV neutron energy. M034800100027 COMMENT The differential cross section for the (g,n0) M034800100028 reactions on Si-28 , S-32 and Ca-40 have been M034800100029 measured. Pronounced structure is observed in the M034800100030 three reactions at excitation energies which M034800100031 correspond to the giant dipole resonance region. The M034800100032 results are compared with (p,g0) and (g,p0) data to M034800100033 test whether or not the cross sections are due to M034800100034 resonances or statistical fluctuations and to study M034800100035 possible isospin mixing effects. Strong correlations M034800100036 are observed between the energies and width of M034800100037 intermediate-type structure in all three M034800100038 cases. Pseudo cross-section calculations have also M034800100039 been carried out using the Thomas reduced r-function M034800100040 theory to generate fluctuations and the results then M034800100041 compared with the experimental data. It is concluded M034800100042 that in Si-28 the cross section is dominated by M034800100043 fluctuations whereas in s-32 and Ca-40 there is M034800100044 evidence supporting some resolved resonance effects.
