M024600100004 AUTHOR (M.Masuda) M024600100005 INSTITUTE (2JPNOSA) M024600100006 REFERENCE (J,JPJ,16,(10),1801,1961) M024600100007 FACILITY (BETAT,2JPNOSA) M024600100008 INC-SOURCE (BRST) M024600100009 METHOD (EXTB,SITA) M024600100010 DETECTOR (SCIN) Two Zn-S scintillators fixed at 180 degrees M024600100011 with respect to each other, were used the overall M024600100012 angular region being from 30 to 330 degrees. The M024600100013 thickness of ZnS layer is 10-20 mg/cm2. M024600100014 ANALYSIS The angular distribution was analysed by least square M024600100015 fit assuming that: M024600100016 A+B*(sin(teta))**2*(1+C*cos(teta))**2. M024600100017 ADD-RES (THEO) The result was compared with the theory based M024600100018 on the 'two-stage mechanism'. M024600100019 COMMENT Thin foils of lithium, sulfur, aluminum, nikel and M024600100020 copper have been irradiated, and the angular M024600100021 distribution of photoprotons was obtained. The M024600100022 angular distribution of photoprotons thus obtained M024600100023 can be classified into two broad types, one M024600100024 isotropic and the other forward asymmetric. The M024600100025 angular distribution for aluminium and nickel (21 M024600100026 MeV) belong to the former type; while that for M024600100027 lithium, sulfur, nickel (18 MeV) and copper fall M024600100028 under the latter type, which is represented by the M024600100029 theoretical form, M024600100030 A+B*sin(teta)**2*(1+C*cos(teta))**2. M024600100031 As an exceptional case, copper has shown an abnormal M024600100032 angular distribution having a maximum in the forward M024600100033 direction and also a rise up in the backward M024600100034 direction. The functional form which fits best to M024600100035 this distribution has been calculated by a bendix M024600100036 computer and compared with the recent theory of M024600100037 photonuclear reactions.
