M024500100003 AUTHOR (D.G.Proctor,W.H.Voelker) M024500100004 INSTITUTE (1USACSE) M024500100005 REFERENCE (J,PR,118,(1),217,1960) M024500100006 FACILITY (BETAT,1USACSE) M024500100007 INC-SOURCE (BRST) M024500100008 SAMPLE (3-LI-6,ENR=0.928) Targets used in the experiments: M024500100009 1 cm square samples of 6Li and natural Li containg M024500100010 approximately equal numbers of atoms with masses of M024500100011 34 mg and 42 mg, respectively. The 6Li was M024500100012 92.8%, while the natural Li was 92.6% 7Li, 7.4% 6Li. M024500100013 METHOD (COINC) M024500100014 DETECTOR (SCIN) M024500100015 PART-DET (P) M024500100016 COMMENT The photodisintegration of Li-6 by bremsstrahlung M024500100017 radiation of 17.3-MeV end-point energy was M024500100018 investigated by use of coincidence techniques to M024500100019 detect neutron-proton coincidences and by M024500100020 measurement of the photoproton energy spectra. The M024500100021 Li-6(gamma,n) reaction is found to Be responsible M024500100022 for 0.58(0.13) of the photoneutron yield measured by M024500100023 Romanowski while the Li-6(g,p)He-5 reaction M024500100024 contributes 0.31(0.04) of the yield. No angularly M024500100025 correlated neutron-proton coincidences were detected M024500100026 which would support a deuteron-alpha-particle model M024500100027 for the Li-6(g,np)He-4 reaction; however, the M024500100028 possible existence of this reaction is not M024500100029 eliminated.
