The rise of the cross section above an M023000100017 'apparent' threshold of about 170 MeV indicates the M023000100018 main onset of pi-meson photoproduction. The cross M023000100019 section at 200 MeV is larger for Li than for Be(1.25 M023000100020 mb and 0.8 mb, respectively), and the integrated M023000100021 cross section from the apparent pi-production M023000100022 threshold to 220 MeV constitutes a sizeable fraction M023000100023 of the classical dipole sum (34% and 24%, M023000100024 respectively).
