A proton telescope was used to M021200100016 select protons of energy 37 MeV, 47 MeV, 55 MeV, 63 M021200100017 MeV, and 78 MeV, using bremsstrahlung beams with M021200100018 end-point energies from 40 MeV to 110 MeV. M021200100019 measurements were taken at angles of 36, 51, 71, 90, M021200100020 119, and 129 degrees comparison of the carbon M021200100021 results with the calculations of dedrick indicates M021200100022 that the principal contributions to cross sections M021200100023 arise from quasi-deuteron interactions. Some M021200100024 evidence is presented that other processes occur M021200100025 near the threshold. Measurements of neutron-proton M021200100026 coincidences were made showing that this direct M021200100027 manifestation of the quasi-deuteron interaction M021200100028 occurs.
