The assembly L017100100018 consists of 18 individual counters, arranged in two L017100100019 concentric rings. Each counter was filled with 3He L017100100020 gas at 6 atm pressure. The space around the counters L017100100021 was stuffed with polyethelene and graphite that L017100100022 thermalizes the emitted neutrons before they are L017100100023 captured (detected)in the 3He counters. L017100100024 INC-SOURCE (LCS) The facility has a 0.24-1.2 GeV storage ring L017100100025 where quasi-monoenergetic gamma-beam is produced by L017100100026 the intracavity Compton back-scattering of the free L017100100027 electron laser photons from the electron bunches. The L017100100028 photon beam was defined by a 12-mm-diameter, 30.5 cm L017100100029 thick lead collimator. L017100100030 ANALYSIS From the experimental arrangement designed to detect L017100100031 neutrons emitted in the reaction follows, that the L017100100032 actually measured cross section was 9Be(g,x+n), the L017100100033 most probable reaction being 9Be(g,n)8Be L017100100034 HISTORY (20120510C) Compiled by S.H.
