L010500100016 The 239Pu sample consisted of a 118 micro-g/cm-sq PuF3 L010500100017 layer on the same backing as 240Pu. The isotopic L010500100018 abundance of 239Pu was 99.98 %. The diameter of the L010500100019 active layer was 25 mm in both cases L010500100020 METHOD Each spontanious fission experiment was accompanied by L010500100021 a calibration 240Pu(g,f) run with 20 MeV L010500100022 bremsstrahlung. The 240Pu photofission runs were L010500100023 calibrated by 239Pu(n,f) with thermal neutrons using L010500100024 a calibration procedure according to PR137,B837,1965 L010500100025 and parameters from PR149,894,1966. These 239Pu(n,f) L010500100026 measurements were done with a well-thermalized and L010500100027 collimated neutron beam from the reactor. L010500100028 DETECTOR (SOLST)2 Ortec F-series heavy ion detectors L010500100029 mounted symmetrically on both sides of the fission L010500100030 sample at a distance of 7 cm from the sample and at L010500100031 an angle of 90 degrees to the bremsstrahlung or L010500100032 neutron beam axis.
