F095600100011 SAMPLE Targets were prepared by the reduction and subsequent F095600100012 evaporation of the magnesium onto thin backings of F095600100013 Formvar or gold. The thickness of the targets obtained F095600100014 by this procedure was approximately 100-200 mu-g/cm2. F095600100015 Magnesium oxide was enriched to 97-98% in 26Mg. F095600100016 MONITOR (12-MG-26(D,EL)12-MG-26,,DA) F095600100017 ERR-ANALYS The relative error for the cross sections in the p0 andF095600100018 p1 angular distributions is about 5% and is primarily F095600100019 statistical. The p2 and p3 angular distributions have F095600100020 an additional uncertainty introduced by the carbon F095600100021 subtraction at forward angles. These forward-angle F095600100022 measurements have a relative error of 15%. The absoluteF095600100023 cross sections have an estimated error of 20-25%. This F095600100024 increased error is due in part to the normalization to F095600100025 the deuteron elastic-scattering cross section, and in F095600100026 part to the assumption that the latter have the F095600100027 Rutherford value.
