After C307400100019 irradiation, the foils were removed from the beamline C307400100020 and transferred to the HPGe counting lab C307400100021 approximately 15 min after EoB. The foils were C307400100022 counted for four weeks following EoB. Each foil was C307400100023 counted multiple times, in order to reduce C307400100024 uncertainty and aid in isotope identification. The C307400100025 stacked-target activation technique, in which one can C307400100026 measure a reaction cross section by quantifying the C307400100027 activity induced within a thin foil of known areal C307400100028 density, using a beam of known intensity. C307400100029 ANALYSIS (DECAY) First, every line emitted from each isotope C307400100030 of interest was fit in each spectrum collected. The C307400100031 number of counts in each peak was used to determine C307400100032 the activity of the isotope at the time the spectrum C307400100033 was taken. These activities as a function of C307400100034 "cooling" time (time since EoB) were used to C307400100035 calculate the EoB activity, A0, for that isotope. C307400100036 Each A0 was then used to determine a cross section C307400100037 (for the lanthanum foil data) or a beam current C307400100038 (for the copper/aluminum foil data). The NPAT code, C307400100039 developed at UC Berkeley, was used for spectrum C307400100040 analysis, fitting decay curves, and calculating the C307400100041 proton energy spectrum in each foil.
