C294700100015 DETECTOR (D4PI,NAICR) The SuN detector is a 4pi calorimeter C294700100016 with the shape of a 16 in. x 16 in. barrel with a C294700100017 1.8-inch-diameter borehole along its axis. The barrel C294700100018 is segmented into eight optically isolated NaI(Tl) C294700100019 crystals, each connected to three photomultiplier C294700100020 tubes (PMTs). C294700100021 SAMPLE The hydrogen gas-cell target, located in the center C294700100022 of the SuN detector, was made of plastic with C294700100023 2-microm-thick molybdenum foils used as entrance and C294700100024 exit windows. The cell had a length of 4 cm and C294700100025 included a tantalum ring on the upstream side and C294700100026 tantalum foil lining the inner walls of the cell, to C294700100027 shield the plastic from the beam and reduce C294700100028 beam-induced background. The hydrogen gas inside the C294700100029 cell was kept at a pressure of ~600 Torr. C294700100030 METHOD A 82Kr beam was directed onto a hydrogen gas cell C294700100031 located at the center of the Summing NaI(Tl) (SuN) C294700100032 detector. The delivered beam impinged on a hydrogen C294700100033 gas-cell target and the gamma rays produced by the C294700100034 reaction were detected by the Summing NaI(Tl) (SuN) C294700100035 detector. The obtained spectra were analyzed using C294700100036 the gamma-summing technique and extracted cross C294700100037 section. C294700100038 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) The uncertainties in the presented cross C294700100039 section include C294700100040 (ERR-1) 5% for the beam-charge accumulation C294700100041 (ERR-2) 5% for the areal target density attributed to C294700100042 the measurement of the gas cell pressure, C294700100043 (ERR-S,1.,4.) statistical uncertainty varying between C294700100044 1% and 4%, with the latter value corresponding to the C294700100045 smaller energy. C294700100046 CORRECTION Doppler-energy shift and the width fluctuation C294700100047 corrections.
