The first was by measurement of the C262300200010 elastic scattering of protons from gold evaporated on C262300200011 the Si target simultaneously with the 28Si(p,p)28Si C262300200012 data. The extracted Au(p,p) yields were compared with C262300200013 optical-model calculations using the universal C262300200014 optical parameters of Becchetti and Greenlees from C262300200015 J,PR,182,1190,1969. Agreement was within +/-5% over theC262300200016 entire energy range. The second consistency check was aC262300200017 comparison of the 16O(p,p)16O yields with those C262300200018 measured by Daehnick from J,PR,135,B1168,1964. The C262300200019 agreement was +/-8% for all three counters over the C262300200020 entire energy range. C262300200021 ERR-ANALYS (DATA-ERR) A combination of the statistical error and C262300200022 the over-all repeatability of the values obtained in C262300200023 the three separate runs made.
