C225700100022 METHOD (TOF,EDE) Energy was determined by time of flight C225700100023 INC-SOURCE A beam of 18-O ions, accelerated to an energy of 80.7 C225700100024 MeV, impinged on a deuterium gas cell at a pressure C225700100025 of 350 torr and cooled to a temperature of 77 K. Ions C225700100026 of 19-O were produced via a (d,p) reaction. Reaction C225700100027 products were partly separated from the incident beam C225700100028 by the electromagnetic spectrometer RESOLUT. Although C225700100029 this spectrometer rejected most of the unreacted C225700100030 beam that exited the production gas cell, the beam C225700100031 exiting the spectrometer consisted of both 19-O and C225700100032 18-O ions necessitating identification of each ion on C225700100033 a particle-by-particle basis. ions were identified by C225700100034 time of flight and energy loss. 19-O ions C225700100035 corresponded to approximately 31% of the beam C225700100036 intensity, 18-O-7+ and 18-O-6+ represented to C225700100037 approximately 20% and 29%, respectively. 19-O beam C225700100038 incident on the target was (1.5 - 4)E+3 ions/s.
