The variation of the neutron yield was 3276500100014 monitored by accompanying alpha-particles, so that 3276500100015 corrections could be made for the fluctuation of the 3276500100016 neutron flux. The neutron energies in the irradiation 3276500100017 positions were determined by the method of the cross 3276500100018 section ratio for the 90Zr(n,2n)89m+gZr and 3276500100019 93Nb(n,2n)92mNb reactions. 3276500100020 DETECTOR (HPGE) The radioactivity induced in thorium oxide and 3276500100021 monitor foils was measured nondestructively using a 3276500100022 lowbackground, high-purity germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray 3276500100023 spectrometer (ORTEC, made in USA, 68% relative 3276500100024 efficiency, 1.7 keV energy resolution at 1332.5 keV 3276500100025 of 60Co). The efficiency of the HPGe gamma spectrometer3276500100026 system was pre-calibrated using the standard point 3276500100027 sources 22Na, 60Co, 137Cs and 152Eu etc. 3276500100028 SAMPLE The thorium oxide (99.7% purity) powder for Thorium 3276500100029 target was pressed into circular disks with a 3276500100030 diameter of 14 mm. The thickness of the samples was 3276500100031 about 2 mm. The disk was covered by a polyethylene 3276500100032 bag and then sandwiched between two thin pure 3276500100033 aluminum foils (99.99% purity and 50 um thickness). 3276500100034 METHOD (ACTIV) The irradiation lasted about 110 min. The 3276500100035 samples were placed at 0, 45 and 90 degree angles 3276500100036 relative to the deuteron beam direction and centered 3276500100037 about the T-Ti target at a distance of 3.5 cm. 3276500100038 Measurements were carried out in two steps after the 3276500100039 irradiation. Firstly, the activated samples were 3276500100040 cooled off for about 5 min and then the gamma 3276500100041 spectrum was measured for short half-life nuclides. 3276500100042 The gamma-ray spectrum was recorded every minute, and 3276500100043 more than one hundred gamma-ray spectrums were 3276500100044 obtained finally. In the second step, the samples 3276500100045 were measured again after cooling for about 24 h. 3276500100046 About twenty gamma-ray spectrums were recorded every 3276500100047 about 12 h. 3276500100048 MONITOR (13-AL-27(N,A)11-NA-24,,SIG) 3276500100049 Qiang Wang (2021-3-3): 3276500100050 The values were obtained by fitting and interpolating 3276500100051 the data of ENDF/B-VII.1 3276500100052 DECAY-MON (11-NA-24,,DG,1368.70,1.00) 3276500100053 MONIT-REF (,,3,ENDF/B-VII.1,1325,2011) 3276500100054 CORRECTION The correction includes the geometry correction, the 3276500100055 self-absorption of the sample at a given gamma-energy, 3276500100056 the coincidence sum effect of cascade gamma-rays, the 3276500100057 neutron-fluctuation and the effect of the precursor 3276500100058 nuclide. 3276500100059 ERR-ANALYS (ERR-T) The uncertainties mainly come from the 3276500100060 counting statistics of the full-energy peaks, 3276500100061 detection efficiency.
