The 2.3 cm diameter neutron beam was 1484800100012 collimated to originate from tantalum portion of the 1484800100013 target in order to reduce the gamma ray background 1484800100014 produced in the water moderator. 1484800100015 DETECTOR (SCIN) The neutron detector consisted of a 2.5 cm 1484800100016 thick NE110 plastic scintillator. 1484800100017 SAMPLE Two samples were contained in 3.2 1484800100018 cm diameter cylindrical holders with 0.5 cm thick 1484800100019 tantalum end caps.
