PURPOSE=/THE BEHAVIOR OF THE SPECTRA AND ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF
NEUTRONS FROM THE (P,N) REACTION AS A FUNCTION OF THE
INCIDENT-PROTON ENERGY SHOW THAT THIS REACTION AT SUFFICIENTLY
HIGH PROTON ENERGIES IS DUE NOT ONLY TO COMPOUND PROCESSES,
BUT ALSO TO NONEQUILIBRIUM PROCESSES. HOWEVER, THEIR
CONTRIBUTION IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN IN THE (N,N) REACTION
AT THE SAME EXCITATION ENERGY. IT IS AN URGENT PROBLEM OF
NUCLEAR PHYSICS TO LEARN THE REASONS FOR THIS DIFFERENCE. FOR
THIS PURPOSE IT IS NECESSARY FIRST OF ALL TO STUDY THE ABOVE
MENTIONED OF THE (P,N) AND (N,N) REACTIONS OVER A RATHER WIDE
ENERGY RANGE AND FOR AN EXTENSIVE NUMBER OF NUCLEI/;
